When you’re a young kid born in Harlem New York and raised on Long Island, without a father to teach you the ropes, you adapt to your environment. Sometimes you have Big Dreams of becoming successful and sometimes you have dreams of surviving just to live another day.

In 1985, I needed some extra money for my senior prom, my mother – a Jehovah’s Witness who did not believe in proms – Recommended that I call my father and ask him for the money.

I was floored! – amazed that she would offer the father, that I never knew as a solution – but I took her advice and she gave me his work number and I actually called him. I met and, talked to him, for the first time in my life. He gave me the money for the prom. But more importantly, he gave me back a piece of myself that had been missing for eighteen years.

Many years went by, and although he never denied me, he never came to find me. He had his own family in Brooklyn NY. I was part of his difficult past. To me, however, he was the key to my future. I had been so adrift for so much of my life that I yearned for a connection with him.

I had a dream that one day I would reconnect with him. It was almost 20 years later since 1985 that I reconnected and spoke to my father. I found out that his actual name was Thomas Taylor Jr. So, when I was 38 years of age, married with two young children, I legally petitioned the court to change my name to Thomas Taylor III. It was quite an arduous task, but as each document came back identifying me as “Thomas Taylor III,” I felt as though pieces of myself were given back to me, filling me up and making me whole.

I have been a Certified Life Coach for over 15+ years helping people regain what they thought they had once lost and putting a plan of action in place to navigate their future.

Taylor your Dreams was created to assist Leaders in dreaming past their current reality and discovering that whatever pain or trauma they may have experienced, it’s a possibility that their purpose can be birthed from their pain. We have been very instrumental in changing the narrative in a community that doesn’t sit on COUCHES for advice. We have demonstrated how important it is to have a COACH if you don’t want to sit on a COUCH!

We will continue to teach our community that Coaching is a Future focus goal and action-oriented process!
